Project Overview

Much has been written about the late 80s and middle 90s Mercedes-Benz products. The W124 has long enjoyed favor among enthusiasts owing to the platform's longevity and fairly bulletproof reliability. But I'm here to tell you the next generation - the one that got eyerolls and deep sighs from brand loyalists that didn't like the dramatic… more

Project Overview

It has been years since I had a hobby car I made an excuse to drive. Despite having an ongoing rotation of vehicles stretching back about a decade now, it hasn't been since my departed 1995 M3 that I tried to find excuses to get out for a drive - but I've found that in the car infamously known as the clownshoe

Project Overview

After selling my 996-chassis Porsche 911, I was pretty relieved to be done with the looming threat of bore scoring and a replacement IMS replacement to my existing IMS replacement. The fear mongering was pretty intense, from both fellow owners to individuals who own shops that service 911s. The makers of IMS kits are now suggesting that you may… more

This is my replacement for the LX450. It is a 2-owner truck, predominantly owned by a doctor in Western Maryland. It is a rare color - Everest Green Metallic - and it's in very nice shape for having 152K miles. The Carfax is excellent and the… more

This is a 2001 Z3 M Coupe, one of only a handful with the desirable S54 engine. It's also a so-called "slicktop" which means it was ordered without a sunroof. Although it was a touch neglected when I found it, due to two years of next to no… more

I saw a friend recently who sells houses. He's not a shark or even a remotely proficient realtor. I actually don't think he's a realtor but just some glorified, "I'll sell your home for less" kind of guy. He's not having a great year, noting that prices are down overall, as is the quality of the homes for sale.

At some point, you just can't help people. I know I crow about sellers of enthusiast vehicles being unfairly forced into selling at no reserve, but that's really not much different than believing a fat person was forced to get all their nutrition from Dairy Queen.

You have the right to say no; it's just that you're impatient, or… more

Many of you know Rob Siegel, the so-called "Hack Mechanic" who is known by many in the vintage BMW circle. He's particularly famous for owning and driving, to his credit, cosmetically-challenged BMWs that he repairs in his garage, side of the road, and wherever else he finds himself behind the wheel of an otherwise risky vehicle.

He's… more
