When you begin any project, the potential for replacing other components "while you're in there" is always lurking. Suspension is one of those areas where it's very easy to find other opportunities for improvement, and while replacing the original suspension with Belltech components, we found some places where we could tackle some deferred maintenance.

The suspension install turned into replacing control arms and axle seals up front, and now with the axle seals underway, it's revealed that the axle on the right side is scored and needs to be replaced. At the same time, it makes sense to replace the rear wheel bearings and replace the back drums.

The saving grace of the Dakota is that parts are still quite affordable, so it's not a total turnoff to replace components that don't technically need replacing but may very well require a refresh in the coming years.
