The Eurovan did not need Porsche brakes

I have to admit, I feel a little dumb about this one.

A shop in the UK sells a big brake upgrade kit for the T4 Eurovan using Mercedes-Benz rotors and Porsche 996 four-piston Brembo calipers. There aren't a lot of upgrades available for a Eurovan, so I felt like I needed to jump at one of the few worthwhile performance upgrades for my rig.

I bought the kit and then sourced a good set of used calipers from a dismantler on the West Coast. I ordered up some generic "performance" pads for a 996 and had the kit thrown on by my shop, German Motors. I thought I was going to ship the Eurovan down to Florida for use in promoting The Common Gear at a car show we're running, and that having this slick modification done would drive some interest in the van. Long story short, I decided I'm not sending it down, so this was a job that could've waited.

The goods is it was still worthwhile, even if the timing wasn't great. The brakes don't necessarily grab like the angry fist of God, but you just feel like you have brakes for days. You jab the pedal firmly and it gives you the confidence of being able to keep grabbing without any fear of running out of brake in the next ten seconds. That, and it looks cool as hell - which, isn't that what it's really about it, after all?
