I got *really* close to selling the 1988 Alfa Romeo Milano Verde I bought last summer. It had been sitting at a local shop that's been in business for ages, outside, with about $500 in parts sitting in the trunk. Now, mind you, it wasn't out of resentment - I was thrilled to not have to move a dead car around the garage - but more because I could have used the extra scratch and it would be another car off my mind.
But Kane Motorcars called late last Friday and informed me they had, in fact, started to dive in, and they began by draining the fuel system. The good news is there's not much fuel to drain and it doesn't look rusty; hopefully, a new fuel pump will get it to come back to life.
The shop confirmed the engine turns over without issue after soaking the spark plugs and filling the cylinders with gear oil. The next step is to button the fuel system back up and then perform a timing belt job before deciding to start the car for the first time.
I really didn't mind not spending money on this car, but I also sort of want to drive it a few times so I can honestly say I owned an Alfa and see if I feel like it needs to be a lifelong commitment.
