This was one of those jobs I really didn’t want to get done because I knew the cost would be high no matter where I took it. Replacement convertible tops are one of those items that has skyrocketed in cost since the pandemic took hold, which wouldn’t seem likely except for the fact that the few remaining top manufacturers left have largely been bought out with just three major U.S. manufactures still making them.
So, supply is limited to begin with and the costs have escalated accordingly. But a ripped top looks janky as hell, and I have a great local resource with Dave, the owner of Charles Street Auto & Boat Top in Providence. He does a great job with all manners of upholstery and convertible top projects, and your car won't sit there for a month waiting for him to get around to it.
All told, it looks quite nice and will likely be with the car well past my tenure with it. Another major job done.
