Did you ever get into a project you didn't really need to do? The Eurovan has had a cracked rear bumper since the time I got it. It wasn't a big deal but it was still noticeable. I could have absolutely lived with it, but I want to bring the Eurovan to the VW Beach Bash in October and need for it to look as close to mint as possible.
The rear bumper cover I got looked straight and true, but like so many other used panels, the body shop discovered evidence of prior bodywork and filler. This isn't the end of the world, but it does introduce the possibility of hairline cracks developing over time. And it also makes me wonder if we should have just attempted to fix the cracks in my original bumper.
Regardless, the work should be quick and painless and I'm hoping we can also remove the ugly-ass trailer hitch that I'll never use at the same time - but that comes down to whether it has minimal bolts to make it easier to remove.
I'm not sure why I want the Eurovan to be cosmetically perfect, but it will be nice to look at the bumpers and not see marring or cracking.
