The short-lived experiment with the Peugeot 505 wagon is soon to be over (barring any unforeseen circumstances - God help me.) I have no real emotions with this one; it is a very cool car and I'm glad I took a chance on it. It scratched an itch I've had for some time, which was to own a French car after years of solely focusing on German makes.
But it wasn't a love connection. It's interesting; my wife is a casual observer of my obsession, and all of the cars that have stayed here the shortest amount of time were ones she came out later and said, "I really didn't like that thing." The Subaru XT6; the VW Scirocco; and now, the Peugeot, have all gotten that quiet commentary of not securing her stamp of approval (speaking of which - we're going to lunch tomorrow and I plan to take the Audi V8 - we'll see how that goes now that I'm thinking of buying another Audi.)
The Peugeot just reminded me I need to focus on cars with some immediate purpose in our household. Whether it's something like the Eurovan that everyone can pile in or the E30 that I might be able to sneak out for a quick drive on a Saturday morning, whatever comes in the garage from now on needs to be more than just scratching a passing itch of curiosity.
All that said, the Peugeot did get a crap-ton of likes on Instagram - people really do love this oddball. I hope the new owners feel the same way.
