Idle Alfas and the pleasure of having no bills

I stopped in to Kane Motorcars the other day to see what's happened with my 1988 Alfa Romeo Milano Verde that I dropped off there - oh, three months ago. NOTHING. NOTHING HAS HAPPENED. Silver lining/ I didn't have an outstanding invoice to pay.

This is somewhat expected. I know they have a reputation for being slow, but good. Every one of the mechanics is, shall we say, "seasoned" - they do not move fast. But they seem to be honest as hell, no bullshit kinds of guys, and word on the street is there work is top-notch.

In some ways, I need this relationship to work, because these guys are like the dinosaurs. They are the last of their kind. The back lot has a Land Rover Defender 110; FJ 40 Landcruiser, Ferrari 308; three MGs; a Jeep Grand Wagoneer; and a Porsche 356 (oh, and an E30 convertible.) They are truly jacks of all trades, and they also have a reputation for being Alfa whisperers.

All that said, I'm not going to panic until the Milano is closing in on being there for six months before I start getting testy. It's more the anticipation that's killing me of wondering just how bad - or good - this car will end up being.
