Assessing the Peugeot 505 Wagon

After three months with 1988 Peugeot 505 Wagon, I have some thoughts. And yes, this coincides with my deciding to sell the wagon, which is done purely in the pursuit of other projects.

First, it's a great car. The conversion work - which was not insignificant - was very well done. The 3.0L PRV V6 is smooth and quiet; the gearchange is precise, but one you don't want to hurry. The previous owner also swapped in an independent rear suspension from a sedan, so it handles nicely, but the real bonus is how smooth it is going down the road. The first thing I thought of was that this was basically a French W124.

Controls are good, everything is in a logical place. The seats are very comfy, even if the adjustments aren't much to write home about (but we're also spoiled with new cars and the range of adjustments the seats offer.) My favorite detail about the Peugeot is undoubtedly its looks - it's a very handsome design.

Still, I pursued this car with some enthusiasm because I knew of its existence before anyone else did, and I've always wanted a French car. Now, it's time to fund other projects and send this one on to a new home, as it's a great driver and deserves to be driven.
