The 1991 Saab 900 Turbo SE convertible wearing Monte Carlo Yellow paint left tonight, bound for Virginia. After a tumulous sales process, the waters became calm and the transaction carried through as God intended.

What's strange to me is how comfortable I've gotten with letting go. I spent the better part of six months looking for a Monte Carlo Yellow Saab, becoming borderline obsessed over it. And yet, as it sat in my driveway awaiting pickup, I really could care less that it's leaving.

For years, I would struggle with the thought of selling a car that I had spent a good amount of time and money improving. Now? Get out of here, and find greener pastures. My work here is done. I owe the car nothing nor am I bound by some invisible clause to keep it for the previous owner's peace of mind. I really did use to think I had an obligation to keep a car after it became mine; no longer.

I hope the Saab gives the next owner many years of top-down driving pleasure; meanwhile, I'm content to be down a project and up a garage space.
